Frequently Asked Questions
OPENING HOURS
Jack’s Shack is generally open when ships are in port at the cruise terminal. On early morning ship calls, the beach is open when the ship is in port, the bar opens about 9 am, and the grill opens about 11 am. If you have a large group coming we can open to suit your group’s requirements.
ACCESS
The easiest way to find Jack’s Shack is just to head left up the beach about 500 yards north of the cruise center. The old tiki hut is now out on the beach in front of the deck. Handicap access is available along the main paved road, a slightly longer route. Proceed through the cruise center parking lot, out the gate along the road, take a left on a paved side road opposite the power plant on the hill at our small sign, cross a short dirt road into our bus parking area. There is one step up onto the deck. We have plenty of staff to assist you with wheel chairs or walking impaired.
BEACH CHAIRS AND UMBRELLAS
The beach staff charges for the setup and wear and tear on the beach lounge chairs $5 and beach umbrellas $10 along our 600 foot stretch of sandy beach. There is plenty of free shade areas on the deck.
CHILDREN
Children of all ages are welcome at Jack’s Shack. We have reasonably priced snacks and soft drinks for kids. The kids can play on the beach with our beach toys and dog, Topher. They can sit at the bar or away from the bar area on the beach to suit your comfort level.
SEAFOOD and VEGETARIAN
On RARE occasions we have seafood and conch. We no longer have conch fritters. We are working on a seafood menu and we hope this will be available soon. We can usually fix a salad for the vegetarians but we have no special vegetarian dishes. With advance notice for larger groups we can try to get lobster (in season) or conch.
